Supporting innovation in the classroom one grant at a time
Enhancing the quality of education in the Cortland public schools
Every year, teachers and staff in the Cortland City School District receive grants of up to $1,000 to support innovative classroom projects that are not funded by the school budget.
These grants are awarded by the Cortland Public Education Foundation (CPEF), a nonprofit that has helped teachers achieve educational excellence in the Cortland public schools since 2005.
Our grants are funded by our annual golf tournament and the generous donations from community members and local businesses.
Musical Instruments
for All
Students at Cortland Junior and Senior High School can now take instruments home to practice on because of a grant from the CPEF.
The Play-At-Home project CPEF funded in 2022 is one of many grants Modern Band Teacher Jon Keefner has received to support the Modern Band program.
“What CPEF has been able to provide for the Cortland Modern Band program is remarkable,” he says. “It has provided so many tools for music making over the years and enabled countless students to meet the music program’s motto: ‘Discover Your Sound.’ “
Golfing for Education
CPEF raises funding for its grants from our annual Golf Tourney, held every July at Willowbrook Golf Club in Cortland.
Gather your team now for CPEF’s 18th Annual Golf Tourney starting at noon on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Willowbrook. Please register by July 23 by mailing in this form.
